Terry Blackwell (3-1) suffered an injury to his hamstring, forcing him to pull out of his lightweight title bout against Torrance Taylor (10-7-1) at this weekend’s NAAFS: Night of Champions 2012. Taylor will now face Illinois product Gino DiGiulio (3-1), although the bout will not be contested for a title. With the change, a bantamweight matchup between Isaiah Chapman (3-0) and Dustin Kempf (6-5) will now serve as the evening’s main event.
Taylor, who hails from Cleveland, will put a three-fight winning streak on the line when he faces DiGiulio. Most recently, he earned a TKO over Tom Waters at Rock N Rumble 6 in August.
DiGiulio comes in off of wins in his last two outings, including an upset win over Kyle Lingg at ICE 55 in September. All three of his professional wins have come via submission, including two via triangle.
NAAFS: Night of Champions 2012 takes place at the Medina Community Center in Medina, Ohio on Saturday night and also features the culmination of the 2012 NAAFS amateur series with seven amateur title bouts.
