John AntanitisThe MMA Brawlroom will return in less than two weeks, as Summer Brawl II is set to go down at the St. Lucy Palermo Center in Campbell, Ohio on June 8.

In the night’s main event, No. 1 ranked middleweight John Antanitis (8-3) will return to the cage for the first time in nearly a year, as he will defend his 185-pound title against John Saxton (6-4). Antanitis is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, including wins over Donnie Cameron, John Burbol, Steve Burton, and Jordan Batt before taking nearly a year off. Saxton recently returned from a layoff of nearly three years, as he earned a unanimous decision over Jason Cowden at Pittsburgh Challenge Series 2 in April.

In a battle for the lightweight title, Josh Hilliard (8-3) will take on Bekzod Abdurakhmanov (4-0) for the vacant 155-pound championship. Hilliard has won four of his last five – all via submission in the first round – and looks to add to the IT Fight Series gold that he picked up in April. Abdurakhmanov wrestled at Clarion University, and he has stopped all four of his MMA foes inside the first round, including three via TKO.

“I’m very excited because we have two excellent title matches already set to go and two other title pairings still a distinct possibility,” MMA Brawlroom Chuck Haskell said to Vindy.com. “Josh [Hilliard] is looking to turn pro so we should see two good fights between well-skilled competitors versed in both striking and grappling.

“As for Bek [Abdurakhmanov], he’s an excellent wrestler but he’ll get a stiff test from Josh, who’s an adept striker and grappler. He’ll need to see if he can respond to striking and not just rely mainly on his wrestling ability.”

The event could also feature two other title matchups, as featherweight Shawn King (7-2) and light heavyweight Mark Wiant (8-3) are currently without opponents for the evening.
