Jessica Eye rockets up rankings, but makes time for charity

Top Ohio-based female fighter Jessica Eye (9-1, 3-0 BFC) is reaping the benefits of a fantastically successful 2012, one that saw her win two Ohio MMA Awards for less than a minute’s work.

Eye was award both the Submission of the Year and the Story of the Year awards for her 58-second standing arm triangle submission victory over Bellator women’s champion Zoila Gurgel at Bellator 83 in December.

After her victory, Eye began to rocket up the women’s 125-pound rankings, even being ranked as high as No. 1 in her weight class in the Unified Women’s MMA Rankings and in the top five pound-for-pound rankings by ProFightingFans.

But despite her busy schedule and increased stardom, Eye has still found the time to give to charities, as she is currently part of a massive fighter sports bra auction for charity. She donated one of her famous “Chick-O-Stick” sports bras to the “MZ & Emmers” fund, which is combating breast cancer through the empowerment of women’s athletics. The auction also features sports bras from top female fighters like Bec Hyatt, Ronda Rousey, and Felice Herrig.

The popular “Evil” one is expected to return to action sometime in 2013, where she will likely be a key piece in a long-planned Bellator 125-pound women’s tournament.
